1990 bmw 325i e30 for sale main

Fast Facts:

  • E30 was designed by the German car designer Claus Luthe. He is regarded as one of the most important and influential European car designers of the modern era
  • The drivetrain of a 325i (as well as a widened version of its front suspension) was used in the BMW Z1 roadster
  • Interiors of these cars are incredibly well built. Unlike many European cars at the time, the E30 didn’t use a foam-backed headliner, which were known for losing adhesion and sagging due to disintegrating foam. The same can be said for the door panels
  • Featured electric door locks that were virtually instantaneous, with no delay
  • While the rear trailing arm suspension was compact, it resulted in dynamic camber and toe changes. This contributed to a loss of rear grip, leading to the “tail happy” handling this car is well known for
  • An E30 M3 pickup was produced by the M Division in 1986 which was meant to be used in the facility to deliver parts. It was made by converting a normal 3 Series convertible into a performance pickup with a 2 litre engine. It later received a proper 2.3 litre engine. This truck saw regular use at the M Division campus up until 2012
Key Model Year Changes:

  • Aluminum bumpers were replaced with shorter body-color plastic bumpers for 1989
  • 1989 was the final year of no airbags. Also the final year of the elipsoid headlights, plastic bumpers, horizontal-style tailights, low rear-arches, front valences/lips, and pop-out rear windows (coupes)
  • This was also the final year of the solid steering column and 1 piece knee bolster
  • Shadow (black) window trim replaced the chrome trim of previous years
  • 1990 MY cars were reverted to sealed windows and sealed beams as cost saving measures

Seller Notes:

  • 2nd owner
  • Crack-free dash
  • Timing belt/water pump replaced @ 36,693 miles
  • Electric sunroof works great, as well as the A/C
  • Most fluids recently replaced
  • Time for valve adjustment
