The Callaway package (RPO B2K) was a factory dealer-ordered option costing $26,995. This was on top of the $36,900 Corvette sticker price. This is the only time in Corvette history that a specialist manufacturer was entrusted with producing a factory high-performance option (RPO)
The package includes over 2000 proprietary upgraded and CNC machined metal parts
The Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette is “quite simply one of the most powerful automobiles ever certified for sale by the EPA. Its turbocharged and intercooled 5.7-liter V-8 puts out a staggering 382 horsepower—more power than any U.S.-spec model currently sold by Ferrari or Porsche. In fact, we know of only one U.S.-market car that can top the Callaway’s formidable power rating: the Lamborghini Countach, which belts out 425 hp” – Car and Driver 1989 road test
The B2K twin turbo package derived from Callaway’s “Project Sledgehammer” Twin Turbo Corvette, which officially recorded a mind-blowing 254.76 mph top speed in 1989 at the Ohio Research Center. Even more impressive: the same car was driven to and from Ohio from Connecticut on public roads, as this was an emissions-compliant, street-legal vehicle with factory options found on everyday Corvettes (air Conditioning, radio, etc) and a 12 month drivetrain warranty!
This earned it the title of the fastest street car in the world – a record it would hold unbeaten for 10 years
